March General Primary Candidates

The Illinois candidate filing deadline has come and gone. It is now official. The Democrats on the ballot for the March 21, 2006, General Primary are below for Central and So. IL. They are challenging the incumbents in their districts:

COSTELLO, JERRY F.
2608 PRO TOUR DRIVE
BELLEVILLE, IL 62220

12TH CONGRESS

WIEZER, KENNETH CHARLES
1624 POPLAR STREET
GRANITE CITY, IL 62040

12TH CONGRESS

ROBERTS, VIC
1022 N. 1250 E. RD.
TAYLORVILLE, IL 62568-8143

19TH CONGRESS

STOVER, DANNY L.
917 E. 3RD
CENTRALIA, IL 62801

19TH CONGRESS

Tim Bagwell, PhD, was gathering signatures on his petitions. He has since decided to support Danny Stover, a Centralia City Councilman. At this time, he feels that he is better able to serve the public & help more candidates thru the DCCPAC. “As a committed Democrat, I thought it best to move aside & support the candidacy of Danny Stover. He is the best choice for the 19th CD at this time,” says Dr. Bagwell.

The Madison Co. Democratic Grassroots Organization will host a “meet n’ greet” for the Democratic Congressional candidates in February. It will be an opportunity to hear what the candidates have to say and ask them questions in a town hall forum. There will be more information available when the group has a location.

In Illinois during the past few months, the major buzz has been Rahm Emanuel’s favored candidate in IL-06. Many Democrats in and out of the CD have not been pleased with his golden child’s “campaign in a can”. Even he will have to fight to keep his job during the next 3 months:

HAPTONSTALL (JOHNNY HAP), JOHN
4606 NORTH WINCHESTER
CHICAGO, IL 60640

5TH CONGRESS
DEMOCRATIC

FREDRICKSON, MARK ARNOLD
6301 W. HIGGINS
CHICAGO, IL 60630

5TH CONGRESS
DEMOCRATIC

If “Rong” Emanuel loses in March, he could always ask for his old job back at the bank. He has done such a poor job as DCCC chairman that they just might lock the doors on him. Time will tell.

Gordon Maag’s vacant seat on the 5th Appellate Court is an open race, more or less. The IL Supreme court appointed Judge Steve McGlynn (R) to temporarily fill Gordon Maag’s vacancy when he left the Mount Vernon appeals court. The district covers part of Central IL and all of So. IL south of Sangamon Co.

McGLYNN, STEPHEN P.

5TH APPELLATE - MAAG VACANCY

STEWART, BRUCE

BERRY, WILLIAM "BILL"

Democrats and Republicans are the Congressional choices in 2006. There are no Independents running for office in Central and So. IL. The list if all 643 candidates is available online.

Let the games begin!
